The LUXX Control Air series from Selkirk brings 20mm paddles to you that are very soft and very forgiving, but have low power and pop.  If you want the closest thing to a pillow pickleball paddle then this series is for you.  They are offered in three shapes the S2 (widebody paddle at 15.7”x8.25”), the Epic (standard square paddle at 16”X8”), and the Invikta (elongated paddle at 16.45”x7.5”).  The best one for you is the shape you prefer.

  • Paddle Weight: 8.1-8.5oz
  • Paddle Length: 15.7”
  • Paddle Width: 8.25”
  • Paddle Thickness: 20mm
  • Surface: Florek Carbon Fiber with ProSpin+ NextGen Micro Texture
  • Grip Length: 4.5”
  • Grip Circumference: 4.25” (4” or 4.5” options for $5 more)
  • Core: Thikset Honeycomb
  • Swingweight: 111
  • Twistweight: 7.27

The main area where the Luxx excels is at control and spin.  The combination of the thick paddle (the ball dwells a lot on the surface of this paddle) and the great spin you get combine to make the ultimate control paddle.

The great thing is they make three shapes so you can choose your preferred shape.  The one drawback of their S2 shape is the super short handle, but some will enjoy that if you are not using a two-handed backhand.  You will have amazing resets and blocks with this paddle.

The dinking feels controlled, and I could place it where I wanted most of the time.  Drops are buttery smooth with this paddle and you will enjoy hitting them all day.

Drives aren’t too bad with this paddle you will just lack a little power but the spin and controlled drives can sometimes be better than a powerful drive that is hard to control.

Power is a real drawback for this paddle and it can be a big drawback if you cannot generate your own power.  You can add weight to help with this problem and that will increase the sweet spot as well but the problem is you are increasing the swing weight as well.  The other problem is the pain grit which wears of fast and some have reported in wearing off after heavy use.  Selkirk does offer a life time warranty but that does not cover the grit.

Selkirk Sport pickleball paddles are guaranteed against workmanship and manufacturer defects for the lifetime of the paddle after warranty activation.

There’s a lot of clutter and garbage on the internet, so why would you trust us?

Well, because we don’t sell paddles. We get paid a small cut when you use our discount code so it’s a win-win and we can be unbiased in our recommendations.

Furthermore, we only recommend paddles that we have personally tested. We use each paddle for a minimum of 3 weeks and try to collect and present the most objective review possible.

Sure…we give our thoughts, but we also want to give you, the reader, all the information to form your own opinion.
