Our Favorite Asics Pickleball Shoes – Comparision & Reviews

Asics has been a leader in all sports shoes for almost 70 years. From basketball shoes to court shoes, they’ve always adapted to include the most modern technology. I consider Asics to be one of if not the best pickleball shoe on the market due to their extreme durability, comfort, and overall playability.

Here are my top 5 recommended Asics pickleball shoes.

Top 5 Asics Pickleball Shoes Reviewed

Best Overall
ASICS Gel-Renma
  • Weight: 13.1 OZ
  • Fit: True To Size
  • Material: Synthetic Leather Overlay
  • Price: $85

These sneakers are unique because they are specifically designed for pickleball players by pickleball players. Like their tennis shoes, they have their proprietary gel technology that helps increase shock absorption to protect your joints and feet.

The outsole is constructed with stability in mind a wider base for better stability, and a tread that is specifically built to help with lateral movements.

You’ll notice the toe box and heel work in contrast. The wide toe box gives you a lot of room and support, while the heel fits snugly for greater control and easier movements. Asics always manages to create a shoe that fits almost any regular-sized foot perfectly with no break-in period.

Pros
  • Slight break-in period
  • Great fit for most types of foot
  • Good traction
  • Light but stable
Cons
  • Higher profile than other shoes
  • Synthetic leather is not as breathable
  • Not as durable for those who play a lot.
  • Reasonable price

Editor's Choice
Asics Gel-Resolution 8
  • Weight: 14.6 OZ
  • Fit: True To Size
  • Material: Synthetic upper
  • Price: $139.99

The Gel Resolution 8 is a shoe I most commonly see out on the courts and for good reason. It’s a great pickleball shoe for any player.

It has a super durable toe guard for aggressive toe draggers who like to stay back, and a wide sole with great tread for those who like to play up close to the net.

Furthermore, it has that wide toe box which gives plenty of room for narrow feet and wide feet. The Gel inserts can be found in the back and middle of the shoe for two reasons; shock absorption and to mold to your foot for the amazing support.

The thick rubber lining around the shoe protects it against rough outdoor courts while the upper breathable mesh keeps your feet cool on hot days.

Pros
  • Wide fit accommodates most foot sizes.
  • Very supportive insole
  • Very durable
  • No break-in time
  • Great flexibility
  • Offers great arch support
Cons
  • Slightly heavier shoe.
  • Not very adjustable for wider feet.

Best Value
Gel-Dedicate 7
  • Weight: 11.9 OZ
  • Fit: True To Size
  • Material: Synthetic and mesh upper
  • Price: $43.50 - $79.95

As far as value goes, these sneakers are at the top of the list. They’re a slightly older model, but they still have all the modern technology. Like most Asics models, they have gel inserts built right into the heel for shock absorption and added comfort.

The Gel-Dedicate 7’s are ready to be worn right out of the box. The more you play, the more that gel is going to contour to your foot shape and province added comfort and support.

The upper is synthetic perforated leather that is durable, breathable, and easy to clean while the sole is wide and offers amazing tread for support and better lateral movements.

Pros
  • Very stable
  • Good weight at 11.9 oz
  • Great arch support
  • Perfect amount of traction
  • Amazing Value
Cons
  • Soles can wear out quickly on outdoor courts
  • Can feel tight an narrow if you have wide feet.

Best For Indoors
Gel-Rocket 10
  • Weight: 11.2 OZ
  • Fit: True To Size
  • Material: Synthetic upper
  • Price: $69.95

The Gel-Rocket 10 is built for high-impact indoor sports which makes it a perfect indoor pickleball shoe. The inside of this shoe offers amazing padding around the heel for amazing support and comfort.

On the side of this shoe, you’ll notice the tread extends out wide. That is designed to provide support for explosive lateral movements while the gel on the heel keeps your foot locked into place.

Just like the Gel-Dedicate 7, it has that perforated leather that not only breathes well, it’s durable and easy to keep clean. I highly recommend this shoe for someone who plays indoor pickleball frequently.

Pros
  • Offers amazing arch support
  • Great tread on hardwood floors.
  • High profile adds ankle support
Cons
  • Not good for outdoor courts
  • May be slightly narrow for wider feet especially in women's size

Lightweight
FlyteFoam 2
  • Weight: 19.5 OZ
  • Fit: True To Size
  • Material: mesh upper
  • Price: $124.96-$169.95

If you’re looking for something lightweight, this is your shoe. The FlyteFoam has a very lightweight mesh upper, but a very wide and supportive rubber bottom.

Between the sock liner cushioning and the dura wrap heel insert, your foot feels nice and snug, yet the lightweight foam keeps air flowing around your foot. The wide bottom makes lateral movements a breeze and the sole is comfortable so you can play for hours without worrying about sore feet.

The FlyteFoam doesn’t have a break-in period and they fit a regular-sized foot true. If you have a wider foot than I would suggest a shoe with specialty (EE) sizing.

Pros
  • It's clear that the shoe will hold up for a long time as the plastic shell offers a ton of stability. You really feel the court and quick response to sudden direction changes are noticeable even with the bit of toe room.
Cons
  • The stitching on the internal mono sock is quite rough (possibly for durability?)

Conclusion

Asics offers shoes for every type of player and all needs. The quality of the manufacturing continues to impress with every shoe that hits the market. If you want durability and performance then Asics is the shoe for you.
